A Good Day in the Woods
No, I didn't have a successful hunt. Shawn and Dakota an I spent the afternoon cutting a 4 wheeler trail thru our property. We were pretty successful with one exception, we hit a culvert that we will have to build a bridge over. We might try later today to use some logs I have to build one. I would prefer to do it that way as opposed to using purchased treated lumber, looks more natural. We will see how it goes. If it works like we have planned I'll post some pictures of it.

Happy Thanksgiving
We hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving. Mel's son Shawn and his wife Jen and our grandson Dakota came and celebrated Thanksgiving with us. We had a great meal and a great day. Our neighbors Tom and Brenda stopped by later in the evening and we had a very nice visit with them too. It's been an interesting first year here at the cabin and while we have had some ups and downs this past year, Mel and I feel truly blessed. The Lord has provided us with a wonderful family and many wonderful friends. I hope all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and Mel and I hope your upcoming Christmas hoildays will be filled with love and joy!

Rain Rain Go Away
I was planning on hunting today, but it has done nothing but rain all day. Mel's mom and sisters came down for the weekend and they have been gone all day so it was a great opportunity for me to hunt but the weather hasn't cooperated. I'm hoping it will pass thru today and I'll be able to get out tomorrow.

The Hunt Continues
I went out hunting today, there were three new rubs right near my tree stand, so I was hoping to see a buck this evening I did see quite a few does, but the buck didn't show up One of the does was sniffing around the rub and a scrape on the ground. I just have to keep hunting and be patient, I know he will show up sooner or later.

Wood Stoves

It was a pretty uneventful Saturday, Mel and I did some shopping in the afternoon. I went out in the morning and looked at some wood stoves for the cabin. I'd like to install one in the basement I'm finishing into a man cave. I looked at both wood stoves and pellet stoves. The pellet stove installation would be much simpler. The wood stove would require me to run a metal chimney up the side of the cabin and I don't think I would like the looks of that. If anyone has done something similar I would love to hear about it. I've included a pic of the pellet stove I am considering, its a Harman. I didn't get out to hunt, might try and get out later today. I did take some new pictures around the cabin, so as soon as I find my card reader I'll get them posted.

The Weekend
Well another week has gone by, I've been out hunting several times this past week with no luck to report. I've seen several does and a bunch of turkeys, but not that big buck I'm looking for. I'm going to try and take some pictures this weekend and get some posted.

The Hunt Is On
I've been hunting pretty regularly the last few weeks. Seen plenty of does, but at this point I still have my sights set on getting a buck. Still plenty of time to put meat in the freezer. I've saw a good six point the last three times I've been out, but so far he hasn't come in range to get a shot. I'll be patient and hopefully I'll have a success story to report.
